Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is the most magical place on Earth. And everyone loves a trip to Disney World Orlando. As it's actually one of the most popular destinations in the world. Thousands of people arrive at the park each day to experience the magic and wonder that Disney brings. But how did the park get started?

The Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom was designed to supplement Walt Disney World, which first opened in 1955 in Anaheim, California. The Magic Kingdom was known as the Florida project when it was in development. It was intended to present a distinct vision with its own diverse set of attractions.

How Did It All Start?

In 1959 Walt Disney Productions began looking for the perfect location for the park and settled on Orlando, Florida in November 1963. The location was near the 4 Florida Turnpike and what was then known as McCoy Air Force Base, today it is the Orlando International Airport. The Magic Kingdom opened to the world on October 1st 1971.

The Magic Kingdom Today

Today the park offers many of the same attractions and experiences and new ones too. There’s a total 4 main theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. And 6 parks in total, the other parks being, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
