COVID-19 Protocols for 2022

When it comes to COVID-19 protocols for cruise ships, things are changing once again when it comes to health guidelines. It’s important that we stay up to date with the Centres for Disease and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 protocols. We’ll do our best to keep you updated as well.

It was reported that the latest guidelines for heath and safety have been eased when it comes to cruise lines. It is so important during this ongoing pandemic to stay informed about things such as health guidelines. The CDC has had their mandatory protocols have recently expired and now we can discuss what will happen going forward.

Since the rules have expired, which were referred to as a “Conditional Sailing Order,” included steps that involved testing passengers and crew. We now have been told that quarantining will be optional.

Previously, part of that order was also quarantining for positive passengers. This will now be optional for passengers who plan on taking a cruise vacation. It’s important that we all stay up to date with COVID-19 protocols and that we stay safe and healthy when we take vacations.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky recently stated in an interview that she thinks “the Conditional Sail Order and the fact the industry has stepped up and is now interested in exceeding the compliance with the Sail Order without the order necessarily being in place is a real testimonial to how well that has worked.”

Cruise Lines Departing from the United States

It was also reported that when cruise lines are leaving from the United States, they had to follow the CDC protocols. Those we're implemented in the summer of 2021 and were meant to help restart the cruise industry after being stalled. 

The next step now, is that all ships that are leaving from the United States will be on a volunteer testing basis only. This way Cruise lines will still provide safe and also provide some of the highest levels of COVID-19 mitigation. Many cruise lines have since expressed that they plan to be committed to the voluntary program. The CDC stated that January 21st was the start date for this new volunteer program.

Updated COVID-19 Protocols

Disney Cruise Line has updated it’s COVID-19 protocols since we last post about this back in July. It’s important to stay up to date with these protocols because they can affect your travel plans.

The world has changed a lot since March 2020 and Disney Cruise Line has continued to keep up to date with it’s protocols. We want to make sure that you’re aware of these updated protocols and what to expect when you’re planning your next cruise vacation.

While we are making sure to keep you updated on the changes, it’s also important to check the Disney Cruise Line website incase things change again. Disney Cruise Line’s COVID-19 Protocols 

As we mentioned, we did write about Disney’s COVID-19 protocols back in July. This was when the cruise industry was preparing to start their service. In this latest update, which was posted to their website in November states that all passengers must be vaccinated.

“Disney Cruise Line continues to require all vaccine-eligible Guests (based on US eligibility requirements) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at the time of sailing.”

Vaccination is required for guests who are 5 years of age and older that are planning on sailing beginning January 13th 2022. “Guests who are not vaccine-eligible because of age must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date.”

Guests who are between the ages of 5-11 can complete testing requirements instead of being fully vaccinated for sailing before January 13th 2022. While passengers who are 4 years of age and younger have to have completed testing. Please also note that rapid antigen tests are not accepted on Disney Cruise Lines.
